Rayner Art

Fine Art Scanning, Printing and Framing

Rayner Art offers production services to Haddam, Connecticut area graphic artists wishing to reproduce their art work as archival ink prints. These services include digital scanning of original work, proofing and printing of reproductions, and matting and framing services for the finished work. Rayner Art analyzes your artwork and discusses the options available that may fit your needs, depending on the vision you have for marketing the reproductions of your images. Our goal is to work with you to produce the best possible reproduction for your artwork and present it in a professional manner.

In our studio, original art work is scanned at 300 dpi using a professional quality flat bed scanner. (Higher resolutions can be used to enlarge images significantly from the original size on a special order basis.) The image is then put into Adobe Photoshop where the print is proofed and the color adjusted to match the original piece as closely as possible.

Work must have a matte finish to be scanned by Rayner Art. Ideal medium: pastel, pencil, colored pencil, water color, poster paint plus other mediums that have been coated with a matte varnish. If work is glossy, artist must provide a digital TIFF file of the work, preferably taken by a professional photographer at a resolution of at least 256 dpi at the desired size for final reproduction. Call or email for more detailed information on digital files and size limitations.

Each print is made using state-of-the-art digital printmaking materials and techniques. Rayner Art uses software technology developed by Bill Atkinson, to achieve outstanding print quality on 36" x 44" Somerset Velvet art paper on an Epson Stylus Pro 9600 printer with UltraChrome matte archival inks. These inks have been rated to last more than 62 years under ordinary glass and 125 years framed under UV Filter glass, according to accelerated light fading tests conducted by Wilhelm Imaging Research.

All work is backed with acid-free foam board, and matted with archival museum board, framed, with regular glass, uv filter glass or Plexiglas to protect the image. Framing choices vary and are up to the individual artist. A standard framing option is available. See specifications and price list below.
